Brief History
(a) Army Public School Pathankot was established in Apr 1982. Prior to that it was being run as Regimental Garrison School under aegis of HQ 21 Sub Area. The school was being run in re-appropriated buildings of 5021 ASC Bn situated in Mil stn, which is located in the vicinity of Sujanpur town. Initially the school was designated as Army School Sujanpur.
(b) The School has been built progressively with higher classes being added in a gradual manner. Class X was introduced in 1985 and first board exam was held for Class X in 1986. Subsequently, class XI was introduced and first board exam for class XII was held during academic session 1987-88.
(c) A major work of Rs. 74.4 Lakhs was sanctioned for Garrison School in 1994. Secondary wing of the School shifted into new school complex (Bldg NP-04) built under MWP in Oct 1997. Primary wing continued in re-appropriated bldg. The School was re-designated as Army School Pathankot. Further, a maj work of Rs. 7.81 crore was sanctioned and constr of new school building started as a MWP wef 14 Jul 2008. The new school bldg was inaugurated on 29 Oct 2010 by Lt Gen DS Thakur, GOC 9 Corps. The school was designated from Army School Pathankot to Army Public School Pathankot wef 01 Apr 2011 vide AWES HQ New Delhi letter No B/45741/Upg/AWES dated 08 Dec 2010.
(d) At present the School has a strength of 1766 students as on 31 May 2015 from class I to XII with 51 sections of various classes. It has science, commerce & humanities streams for Senior Secondary classes.
(e) Besides education, adequate weightage is given for all round personality development of students through participation in co-curricular activities and sports. The School has excelled in a number of sports events in the region. Boys & Girls teams of the school have won many events at Command level.
(f) Hobby clubs like Eco club, Dance, Music, Painting, Web designing, Cooking, Karate, Skating , Cricket etc have been running successfully.
(g) A Junior division of NCC for boys & girls is part of the curriculum where students actively participate in NCC trg / camps.
